Getting on the flight, and not a single foreigner. To our surprise the flight was 90 percent monks. It was a nice way to arrive into India. Since it was 2am on arrival we Set our bags down and slept in the airport until the sun came up. We knew Sutter Street was in the guts of town so we got a taxi over there hoping it would figure itself out. The taxi over showed us how truly different it was compared to SE Asia. We hit a man on the way. Apparently that was normal. Once we got there we found a hotel, which wasn't as cheap as we would like. India is incredibly cheap, but we know kolkata is one of the most expensive cities. We spent the day exploring the park and the Victoria Memorial hall. A massive Palace which was home to some of the British back in the late 1700s. We met so many friendly people. Before arriving to kolkata we were warned to be careful, and how dangerous it can be. IV found that some places are like that, but so far kolkata has been nothing but friendly to us.
We spent hours at the train station trying to find a ticket to Agra so we can see the Taj, and also make our way to Vrindivan, krishnas birthplace, for holi (the festival of holi is celebrating krishnas birthday). But after hours of pushing and hard sweat we found out all the tickets are full for the next couple days. IV been working with a man at the hostel to get us on a train tonight, but it's costing us a hefty price of 3200 rupees each. Hopefully all works out according to plan. India is crazy, but great.
