Ho Chi Minh City.

We landed in Ho Chi Minh at 3 am, our hostel was full, so we stayed at a nearby hotel for 20$. The morning we awoke at 7am and decided to just walk, and see the city. Very busy, very dirty, very loud, but still very beautiful. After a couple hours of walking we decided to kill some time since we couldn't get into our hostel room until 2pm, this is when the day took its turn. We made our way to the park, and stopped for a second and sat down. A man approach us and said "good morning Vietnam!"  we laughed, and we started to talk. His name was Day. Day asked us where we were from and how long we were traveling for, and then he offered to take us around the city for 100,000 dong (5$) an hour. We were obviously hesitant at first, and said no. He then brought out a journal of past traveller's he's taken and things they wrote about him. The journal wasn't fake and was clearly written by many different people. Pictures, dates, names were all involved so we figured this seems legit, why not, let's give Day a chance. He brought us over to a his bike, and introduced us to his friend Hom. Hom didn't speak English. I got on the back of Day's bike and Lucas got on the back of Hom's bike and they drove us across the city to saigon river. They told us history and taught us about the city. After that they brought us to the zoo, the Bagoda temple, the post office, saigon square, saigons notre dam, the war remnants museum, saigon art museum. We had lunch in what he said as "real saigon food" and which was very cheap, and very good. Rice, chicken, pork, sour soup, and some other stuff which I don't even know what to call. We got to see the real saigon market which was a large building each level consisting thousands of items. Everyone spoke Vietnamese, nobody spoke English. We were the only white people in the place. Before we knew it it was the end of the day. We had a beer with Day and he offered to take us up the mekong river into Cambodia. He had done this before and had pictures and past journal entries of people who have done it, but he was asking us to pay him 270$ for four days. Too much. We refused, but we will see him tomorrow. We're exhausted.
